Defining Attributes of a Triangle
A triangle has 3 straight sides. Triangles can be big and small. Triangles can be any color. Any closed shape with 3 straight sides is a triangle.
Defining Attributes of a Circle
A circle is round with no sides or corners. Circles can be big and small. Circles can be any color. Being round with no sides or corners is the defining attribute of a circle.
Defining Attributes of a Rectangle and Square
A rectangle has 4 straight sides and 4 square corners. Rectangles can be big and small. Rectangles can be any color. Any shape with these attributes is a rectangle. A square is a rectangle where all the sides are the same length.
Defining Attributes of a Hexagon
A hexagon has 6 straight sides. Hexagons can be big and small. Hexagons can be any color. Any shape with 6 straight sides is a hexagon.

A cube has a defining attribute of having six square faces. A rectangular prism is like a cube, but all the faces are rectangles. The defining attribute of a rectangular prism is that it has six rectangular sides. The defining attribute of a sphere is that it is round, like a ball.
